Garbage Day

• Garbage Cans

  • Sarasota County provides both recycle and trash receptacles.

  • Their website is linked here

• Collection

  • Regular collection day is Thursday each week. They typically come close to 7:00 AM for recycle pick-up, and closely after for trash pick-up.

• Lawn and Shrub Clippings

  • They pick-up this typically on the same as the trash collection day, however there are a number of times they have not come until Firday, and sometimes even Saturday.

  • It is important that you read the guidelines on the county’s website regarding how to bundle loose branches as well as containers for leaf and clippings.

• Large items

  • Larger items that cannot be picked up by a single person require you to call ahead of collection day and let them know and they will send a separate truck and crew for that. This is like appliances, cabinets, sofas, etc. Items they will pick up with regular collection are like barbeques, regular chairs, lamps, etc.

• Placing Cans At Curb

  • The collection recycle and trash cans should be placed one on each corner of your driveway before the curb (not on the road pavement). Do not place any other items within 2 - 3 feet of these receptacles.
