A New Era
By: Jim Hilker, President Caribbean Village HOA
As I write this my mind is full with hope, encouragement, excitement, and confidence. For the first time ever, Caribbean Village is now guided by a five-member HOA Board. Also, for the first time ever, we have a (required) Treasurer officer on the HOA Board. The knowledge, skills, and expertise that these five members bring together will produce good outcomes for CV over the next few years. Although we won’t reach perfection, we will always strive for that regardless.
Since November 19, 2024 we have been working our way through a very significant transition, not only from a 3 to a 5 member Board, but also transitioning from Associa Management Company to Capstone Association Management. December was our month to work this transition, set our goals for the next year, examine our committees, and get up to speed with budget and finance situation, as well as see that needed repairs and upgrades on vital infrastructure get scheduled.
This website is one of the new things we’re launching right now. It is early stage, so please know that it will evolve as we continue to improve it over the coming months. This website will serve residents with a lot of information and communications such as this one. This “Announcements” section will be my weekly communication to all residents. Transparency and communication are key to a positive and productive organization and community, and this is a primary component as we conduct the business of Caribbean Village.
I am happy to announce that we are stepping into 2025 with most organizational systems either already cleaned up, organized, and compliant or still in that process. Over the next year you all will see structure, enjoy transparency, receive information at your fingertips, witness rapid (cost-saving) improvements and updates to infrastructure, and celebrate a focus on reduction in expenses as we modify processes and vendors, control spending, and roll out new non-dues income opportunities. Such change may concern some folks, but I am fully confident, that in a short time, all will be very pleased at where this new era has brought us.
Next week I will update you all on the projects underway (Irrigation system repairs, Venice Ave Gate repair, Gate Access Technology project), and some new projects on the horizon.
