CV - A Great Place to Be!
This morning I was reflecting on all the good things going on here in our Caribbean Village Community. We have fun events organized by our Social & Events Committee, like the up-coming “Kentucky Derby Watch Party”, and the monthly “Ladies Night Out”, which now has a Men’s Corn Hole night at the same time; Book Club 2 times each month; Mah Jong played weekly; a new and exciting Kids special event happening on June 1st to kick-off summer with a fire truck coming that will let kids squirt water, blast the siren, and learn some important fire safety while playing and having fun. Also, something new for us adult folks, we’re holding a first ever (informal) CV bourbon tasting this coming Monday at the pool Cabana at 6:30. All bourbon lovers and wannabe bourbon lovers are invite to come and bring a bottle to share tastings with.
So, yes, this is a fun place to live, and it’s going to keep getting better. Some event ideas; Wine & Cheese night, rummage sale fund raiser, Octoberfest, Luau Party Pig Roast, and more. If you have an interest in such events or activities please attend one of the monthly committee meetings to see how you can help be part of the fun.
Also be sure to read Karen Smith’s “What’s Happening in CV” email broadcast each Monday to get more details on the events and activities coming up each week.
Beautification Has Begun
If you’ve been to the Clubhouse since the later part of this past week you probably noticed that a lot of trimming, cleanup, and plantih taking place in the front area. This is the start of a community-wide Beautification project that will have CV transforming into a “garden-like” look and feel over the next four to six weeks. When this is all done, you are going to feel so proud to be an owner here in CV and those who are not owners here are going to wish they could be. There is going to be a lot of flowers and colorful plants, manicured shrubs and trees, rich, thick green lawns, freshly painted sign posts, cleaned sidewalks and more. You can be a part by making sure your own house, lawn, plants, sidewalks, etc. are clean, tidy, painted (if needed), and anything else you can do to equal or exceed the common area beauty as it transforms.
It’s SO Dry!
We’ve been in a prolonged period of full sun, mid 80’s temperature, low humidity, and windy for weeks now. I’ve been here about 9 years and I cannot recall seeing things drier than this before. Here’s a couple of conditions your CV Board is monitoring and managing as needed day by day;
Pond water levels and fountains. We’re getting very close to the point that the fountains in the small ponds may need to be turned off due to very low water level. At the rate they’ve been dropping the past two weeks, they may require to be shut off in another week.
Irrigation - we have added longer and more frequent watering programming throughout the community, which now include Saturdays and Sundays. If your lawn is rapidly turning brown and crispy, please immediately submit a work order form because Justin, our irrigation technician, will be on site most days this coming week. We have also ordered many parts to have on hand for quick repairs of issues as they are reported. We are aware of a few homes that are not getting watered and the parts for those repairs are ordered and will be here in the next few days. If you are one of those, you may want to do a little hand-watering of your lawn and shrubs in the meantime.
Just a few more weeks and the rainy season will kick in and we’ll go from crazy-dry to saturated in no time flat.
More Entry Gate Work
Just a short update to let you know that our gate service company will be here this week specifically to try to get your remote fobs working to open the gates once again. Fingers-crossed that they will be successful!
Also, the River Rd. entry gate work to replace the existing call box with the new Tap-2-Open key pad will happen in the coming week as well.
Have a great weekend - Happy Easter!!
