Bourbon Nights & Kentucky Derby Party

As a build-up to our Kentucky Derby Party taking place next Saturday (May 3rd at 4:30 PM), we have setup a couple of Kentucky Bourbon Tasting evenings here at CV. This past Monday evening we held our first Bourbon Tasting Evening. We had a great turn out, and it was a lot of fun! The second tasting event is this coming Monday evening April 28th at 6:30 PM under the cabana at the CV Clubhouse. This time it will not only be tasting, but “Bourbon Talk with Dave & Jim”. We are bringing a few special bottles and as we share tastes Dave and I will talk about each of those and let folks know what makes them different and special. If anyone would like to bring some snacks to pair with the bourbons, those should be chocolates and fruit (oranges, cherries, apples, plums) as those are great compliments to bourbon. Everyone who enjoys tasting and learning about bourbon is welcome to come, please bring a bottle to share.

Discount Hurricane Shutter Service / Palm Tree Pruning / Roof Washing

Our landscaping vendor, Mint Condition Services, also provides these services to CV residents. If you would like to get on their list to have your metal hurricane shutters installed (and removed) when/if a hurricane is approaching, you will have that opportunity in the next few days. Pricing ranges $20 - $30 per window. To take them back off and return them to your garage storage is a flat $100 fee (total, not per window).

If you would like your front palm trees pruned, you will also be able to sign up for that this coming week. Pricing is based on the number of homes that participate in the 1-day event;
<25 homes = $55 per tree
26 - 50 homes = $50 per tree
51 - 75 homes = $45 per tree
>75 homes = $40 per tree
I’ll share a signup form early this next week and you will be able to see how many have signed up in real time. They will schedule a date in mid - late May for the pruning day.

Need your roof washed? They do a soft spray with minimal (if any) walking on the roof tiles. Again, this is a bulk-pricing offer where they need to get enough participants to make a full day of it, which is approximately 10 homes. That would be $250 per single story home; $350 for two story homes. I will post the online signup form for that this coming week as well.

Keep an eye out for the signup forms for these discount opportunities this coming week.

Irrigation / Brown Spots / Repairs

Our irrigation system is working overtime these days. It’s scary because it’s over 10 years old and is already struggling under the demand. Our irrigation pump technicians will be here on Monday to do some service on the pumps.
Nothing can take the place regular old rain. Irrigation is simply an attempt to hold things as best as possible while awaiting rain. So with that, you will not find a perfectly even green lawn by irrigation alone. There will be patches of brown here and there where the spray of the sprinklers is a little less than other spots. We all just need to know this and be patient for the rainy season, which is just a few weeks away now.
The pipes, soaker tubes, and sprayers are also old. The soaker hoses are especially susceptible to old-age deterioration, and running the pumps longer and more often causes more pipe breaks and more irrigation repairs and associated costs. It is important to remind you all that the Association is responsible for repairing issues that are caused by normal age-related deterioration, but if you or a service vendor you hire break irrigation items, you will be charged for the time and material cost for those repairs.

Have a great weekend everyone!!
