Caribbean Village Will Shine Again

Beautification & Upkeep
What was formally known as the “Maintenance Committee” here at CV is now renamed and re-purposed to the “Beautification & Upkeep”. Sadly we’ve all observed a steady decline of the aesthetic look and feel of our community over the past several years. Little by little the planting beds and common areas have lost their appeal and purpose; the trees and shrubs have been neglected; the soils have not been kept maintained for proper nutrients and water; and there’s just no “pop” of color to portray pride in our community we once had. Therefore, your new HOA Board has agreed that we will no longer simply “maintain”, rather we will Beautify and Upkeep Caribbean Village from here forward, and we are dedicated to funding this through the savings we are achieving as we focus on improved efficiencies within other budget categories.
Beautify:
To begin the beautification, we will be focused on the common area planting beds from the entrance gates in and throughout the community. The goal is to remove all ugly plants and trees and debris and apply fire-ant and bug/grub pesticide, repair the soil health, fix and improve the irrigation, re-design and plant new plants, shrubs, and flowers.
A second phase of this will be to examine how we can add both beauty and functional security of our community perimeter using “thorny plants” such as Barberry, Bougainvillea, and other low-maintenance and attractive security hedges. This beautification phase will eliminate the need for repairing and replacing the ugly, flimsy yet super-expensive plastic fence installed by the developer, while actually providing real security, beauty, and a natural habitat.
Upkeep:
This involves volunteer residents to keep the hard scapes, such as our entrance monuments, gates, sign posts, metal fences, sidewalks, pool pavers, streetlights, game court (aka bocce ball court), etc, in both good functional and aesthetic condition. It may even incorporate the bi-monthly cleaning and upkeep of the Clubhouse meeting and fitness rooms, and restrooms. This is not to say our volunteer residents will perform all the work themselves, as some will require professional workers and equipment, and for those items they will report to the Board when a professional service company is needed.

Volunteers are needed to help with many different aspects of this evolved committee. We need men and women who have a passion for, and understanding of gardening, flowers, plants, shrubs, natural habitat, painting, design, and some handyman-type tasks as well. Please help us help you make Caribbean Village shine bright and proud by volunteering on this committee. Click or Tap the new “Beautify” menu option above to get to the new webpage and fill out the form on that page to add your name to the list of folks ready and willing to restore the beauty and pride of our community.
