Feb. 22 - Weekly Update
Hi Neighbors!
I hope you all had a good week. I know some of our neighbors are struggling with health situations and ailments, and I personally wish for full and speedy recoveries for those who may be dealing with such.
This morning is our CV Community Garage Sale, 8 - 12. There are over 20 homes participating. Neighbors-only are welcome to the “Early-bird Hour” from 7 - 8 if you want first pick of “the goods”. We ask that you do not park on the streets during the event hours today, and also ask for your patience today with the silly way in which Garage-Sale shoppers drive and park. We have many volunteers donning bright yellow-green vests as they perform gate control, security, traffic, and parking control this morning.
Projects
Gates Project
The access equipment updates are still in the works. It’s been a bit complicated regarding getting underground / under-road wiring configured. We got it figured out now and will commence with the equipment swap -out over the next 2 weeks.
The results of last week’s pool is 77.8% of respondents favored us holding the Venice Ave gate open during the daytime until the work is completed and the fobs and key pads are working well. The consensus was 7 AM - 5:00 PM. Therefore we will initiate this temporary “gate-open” remedy beginning today Feb 22. at 8:00 AM (Community Garage Sale start-time). Again - this is ONLY for Venice Av gate; River Rd gate will remain closed as normal.Pool
As announced earlier this week, the pool is open for swimming as of this past Wednesday and all three new pool heaters are functioning extremely well. The water temp is holding at 84 degrees.
There are some other needed repairs that will cause re-closure of the pool soon. We’re looking at early - mid March time frame for that. Those repairs should require only one or two days of closure.Dry Season
As we all watch the pond / lake levels slowly dropping due to our annual dry season, it may be necessary to turn off the fountains soon if we do not get any substantial rain. We’re just keeping an eye on this for now.Beautification
As we are organizing the renewed committee “Beautification & Upkeep”, planning for making CV absolutely gorgeous is in the works. Phase 1 is to determine all the entry and internal planting beds to focus on first, and get expert analysis and advice from our new landscaping contractor on how to enhance them appropriately for colorful beauty, plant types, and full- or part sun needs of plants. At the same time, the irrigation tubing in those planting beds will be repaired and/or replaced as needed. You should start to see things happening on this over the next couple of weeks.
Committee volunteers are still needed - please use the web-form on the “Beautify” web page to sign up and we will respond!WE NEED VOLUNTEERS!!!
Right now we are in a transition on some committees and we need new people to help. Please email our Board VP Karen Smith ( vicepresident@cvcommunity.us ) with your interest on serving on any of the following committees:ARC Committee
Beautification & Upkeep Committee
Arbitration / Compliance Committee
Social & Events Committee
Did You Know?
Before removing any trees or landscaping on your property our Declaration of Covenants and the Rules and Regulations require you to submit an ARC Request and receive ARC Committee approval. There is no permit required for tree removal or planting through Sarasota County, but you do need follow CV Rules.
Currently our rules mandate that each home is to have two palm trees in the front planting bed. Exceptions are made if the soil is contaminated causing the palms to die.
