If we accidently left you off the list, you are appreciated as well!

The Benches

The park benches along Billfish are completed and open for your enjoyment. There has been a few folks who wondered why we placed the concrete pads and the benches where we did and angled the way they are. There was a very focused consideration on positioning of these so that, 1. they did not angle with a direct line of sight into a close-by neighbor’s lanai, 2. Angled to sit and view the ponds towards the fountains, 3. Not next to oak trees whose roots would lift, shift, and destroy the concrete pads within a few years. It’s nice to see people already enjoying a brief sit every day.

What’s the White Pipe?

Some folks have asked what’s the deal with the new white pipe sticking out of the grass common area on Billfish. So here’s the deal; a few weeks ago a significant leak formed from one of the 6-inch main irrigation pipes about 4 feet underground. Justin dug down and found the leak, and also discovered that it was a dead-end section of pipe that branched off the main supply from the pump station towards Blackfin. He was going to simply cut out the broken pipe, cap it off, and bury it, but then I realized that it was the perfect opportunity and set-up to convert that dead-end pipe segment into a flush point so that we could flush out the algae from the main pipes (to help alleviate the clogging spray head nozzles we’re experiencing). So that is what that pipe is - a main pipe flush point. It is a start - according to Hoover Pumping, our community requires a total of 3 - 4 flush points in various points around the community. These other flush points will be added soon, but we got lucky and got one done unexpectedly early.

Cocoa Brown Mulch Color

The Caribbean Village Community’s Rules and Regulations Section 180 clearly stipulates that “Cocoa Brown” mulch is the approved color to be applied within the community. This is not a suggestion, it is a written requirement on all homeowners. Please note that Cocoa Brown is basically a “Dark brown”, so if you cannot find mulch at Lowes or Home Depot or other providers that is called “Cocoa Brown”, than make sure you get their “Dark Brown”. If you are reading this and you already applied light brown, or reddish brown, or black mulch, then unfortunately you are in violation of the CV Rules and Regulations and therefore need to go buy more bags of mulch; enough to cover up the wrong color you have already put down. If you are one of those folks, please have this remedied before April 30th.

County Water Restrictions

As announced in an email blast sent out on April 2nd, Sarasota County has placed a mandate on water usage as of April 3rd, and will begin unannounced compliance inspections late this week. Violators will be cited and fined. To comply, CV had to limit each fountain to no more than 4 hours run-time each day, and each lawn (residents and common areas) to no more than once per week. We have already complied with this mandate. Hopefully we will see some periodic rain during this mandatory restriction to keep our lawns green
