May 24th - Weekly Update
By Jim Hilker, Caribbean Village Association President
Amazon Key
I’m happy to inform you all that Amazon Key finally showed up and installed their new entry gate access for their delivery drivers this past week. There should be no more drop offs outside the Venice Ave gate. They also installed their Amazon Key on the River Rd entry gate too, which has never had one before.
Tall Palm Tree Pruning - Scheduled For First Week in June.
I know many of you have signed up for getting your tall palm trees trimmed by Mint Condition Services. I provided Trey with the up-to-date listing and he has all of you that signed up on this work order, and he will be email all of you soon. If you are one of the sign-ups, you can see a green palm tree icon placed on your house on the Google Map linked HERE. This map is also what Trey’s team uses for the project.
You will need to talk with Trey if you wish to have any additional trees pruned along with your tall palm trees.
If you have not signed up yet but would like to, this is your last opportunity. Please submit the form on the web page linked HERE.
FYI, if the Palms at you home are over 12 feet from the soil at the base of the tree to where the lowest branch attaches to the tree, then it is up to you to prune it yourself or pay to have it done.
Hurricane Shutter Install / Remove Service Update
For those of you that signed up to have Mint Condition Services install and remove your metal hurricane shutters in the event of an approaching hurricane, you are on the list and Trey will be following up with you soon to confirm.
Use the Google Map linked HERE to see if your home is on the list. If you have a red-color lightening bolt icon on your home on the map, then you’re on his list.
Brown Grass Season
Neighbors, Sarasota County has mandated all residents and communities to conserve water so as to slow the drop of the water table. This applies to even communities like ours that uses lakes or ponds for irrigation. We are now limited to watering each lawn just once per week for no more than 45 minutes each, between the hours of 7 PM and 10 AM This will cause some brown spots to show up in our lawns. Please do not submit a work order request for brown spots. If you see your entire lawn turning brown while other lawns are not, then you should submit a work order right away.
Rainy season will be here soon!
Beautification Initiative
Unfortunately the CV Beautification initiative has slowed. This too is due to the drought, as it just not a good idea to be installing new plants when it is so dry and hot. They have been planting some little by little, and really hope to be able to finish up the inside planting areas over the next week. The forecast has several days with higher chances of rain, so that means we will be getting rain soon (hopefully) which also means the Beautification work will be back in full swing in the coming days (again…hopefully).
Snook Haven Update
Sarasota County posted the updated plans for the Snook Haven project this month. Although there is some sadness to lose the “old Florida” environment of the Snook Haven restaurant, it is going to be nice to have a brand new restaurant, music stage, fishing pier, kayak and canoe rentals etc. so close to Caribbean village!
